Another little known fact is I also style males. Naturally, my client and fan base is 99% female, though. Akira had always been a stylish guy and good looking, so I asked Winston if he thought Akira would model for me. One morning, WAY too early, Akira came waltzing in donning the look I call “Beach Swag.” If he didn’t look so sad, I would have given him an ear full about showing up before 9 a.m. I’m SO glad I didn’t have on my sexy, see-through pajamas! He said Winston told him to come by in the morning, but I know he didn’t mean first thing. Winston was barely dressed himself.
I’m usually not so nosy, but I was annoyed and asked what they had going on. Akira hesitated at first, and I told him he didn’t have to tell me but he spilled the tea anyway. Apparently he got some girl pregnant and wasn’t taking it very well and wanted Winston’s advice. I don’t know why, but I was so touched. It’s a miracle he even got over those feelings and became such a wonderful father. But to take that experience and use it to encourage others? Wow. I’m just … I feel so proud.
