Another nice thing about Winston’s retirement is we can sleep in together…but not too long. I still have a child to send off to school. But one particular morning, I did not wake up. I felt so warm and content from our conversation the previous night…and the afterparty, heh. It was a chilly morning, and his body was so warm. I just could not get out of bed and completely missed kissing my child and telling her I love you. True, I know she’s much older and very independent and responsible. There’s always leftovers in the fridge for her to eat, and she’s very good at making her own cereal. But I still like to have that touchpoint in the morning. I can’t help but think missing that caused this to happen.

The school called Winston and said Emerald started a food fight! And she got many of the students to join her and created a HUGE mess. He was NOT happy to hear what his sweet lil KiKi had done and told the principal to make sure she helps them clean.

When she got home from school, I ran quickly to meet her. I missed my morning hug. I also figured she’d need a little a little loving before Winston got on her.
