I pulled out all the stops and prepared a grand island feast for my dearest friends to celebrate all the things! This little shindig was a housewarming, baby shower, and meet my boyfriend party all in one. Yes…none of them had met him yet. Not even Nay. Jules and I don’t talk much anymore, and I hadn’t been out to Evergreen Harbor in a good minute. But he’s still near and dear to my heart. Izzy…oh, Izzy. He may be the only one from which I purposely hid Winston. We know each other from the industry and always ran into each other at fashion week events. Whenever I’m in a relationship, he gets oddly obsessed with me and very negative toward my boyfriends. Honestly? I thought he was gay, so imagine my shock when he kept asking me out and confessing feelings. He said he was joking, but I don’t know about that.

Anaya arrived heavily bothered with a very sad Billie in tow. She and Baako are separated now. My poor Billie. I can’t imagine how she must feel. Gosh, I hope my child doesn’t have to go through anything like that. I know I said previously I didn’t want Winston here if he didn’t want to be, but I think I need to be more insistent. According to a book I read, he’s not here because I haven’t required him to be. Guys don’t pick up on hints and things like we do. Maybe he doesn’t know how much I need and want him here, though it should be obvious. I said, “I love you” first! What else does he need?

I was a bit perturbed that he arrived late. Half the reason I put this together was for him to meet the most important people in my life. If he’s flaking out on me again, I swear I’ll slice him in two. Hopefully whatever held him up was serious, seeing as how he’s never late. When he finally showed, Izzy had no love for him, and Jules was extremely passive aggressive. Nay was preoccupied with her own drama to be pleasant. Billie, poor girl. I honestly don’t know how she feels about all this. She’s familiar with me being in relationships, but having a child is completely new. Maybe she knows I’ll have less time for her.

What a welcome. Hopefully he knew to expect a tough crowd. He’s old enough to know how his girlfriends’ best friends can be. Dinner may have been rough, but I think it turned around…a little. Izzy went inside and stayed on the computer all night—not surprised. Jules hung back and go to know Winston. I think they actually may be friends now. Nay tried. I really think she did, but she’s just consumed with anger and bitterness right now. She got a pass. Later, when she’s calmer, I’ll have to ask her what she thought of Winston. Billie cheered up and expressed an interest in her future young friend. I take all the wins I can get. Let’s call this dinner a success.
