Izzy gets on my nerves a lot. He’s petty, disrespectful, possessive, and lacks tact. But there is one thing for which I can always count on him and that is to tell me the honest truth. I’ve never been one to need approval from my friends. I do, however, appreciate their support, and when I don’t have it I can’t shake it. Jules and Anaya never talk to me about Winston, and when I ask how they feel about him they give neutral, vague answers. Izzy, on the other hand, tells me exactly how he feels. After his most recent visit, I wondered if the other two relied on his brazen, outspoken personality to convey their feelings as well. Out of nowhere, he said, “So, when are you gonna ditch that loser?” I was taken completely by surprise and had not a reply. I know I talk about him a lot and am often frustrated with the state of our relationship, but breaking up? I can’t say that’s anything I’ve ever considered. If this suggestion came from Nay or Jules, I’d chock it up to them just taking up for me like they always do. But Izzy has never been that way. He will chew me up and spit me out if he has to. He sees things the other two don’t see. Why did he have to say it?
