My friends trickled in throughout the day to see how vacation went. First was Nay, of course. I didn’t tell her everything because she was largely unaware of my dissatisfaction with Winston. While she went through the divorce, I didn’t want to bring her down further by burdening her with my drama. Besides, with the way things usually work, she’d probably choose that moment to express her true feelings about Winston, and I don’t want to hear it. She and Jules should have had those same balls in the beginning. Point blank.

Speaking of balls…

Izzy came by that night to chew me out. I didn’t tell him about the vacation plan; it was none of his business. Frankly, it’s none of any of their business what I do or don’t do with my family! I appreciated his boldness because it forced me to look at the situation from a different lens which ultimately led me to make peace with it. But all this noise about what I deserve and needing to suck it up and throw him out? Tuh! He was doing the most and went on for quite some time, actually. Every now and then I tuned in to see if he had something of substance to say–he didn’t. Eventually, he caught Winston’s attention.

He came outside, all casual, asking if everything was ok. For an elder, he still looks like he could scrap. His back was turned to me so I couldn’t see his face, but I know he probably never blinked. I bet his face looked like “say something else…I dare you” because Izzy decided it was time to leave.

Look at my boo flexing on my haters! He deserves a special treat tonight.
