Reflections: aDOLTing Gen 1

I don’t intend to do this for every generation, but I wanted to pause and reflect on Amina’s inauguration of aDOLTing before we dive into Emmy’s life. In case you missed it, the previous post was the last from Amina’s POV. According to the rules of the challenge, the next generation begins as soon as the child becomes a young adult. We all know I’m never a stickler for these challenge rules, but I was excited to move on although I’m not quite ready to let Amina go. It’s an interesting predicament I find myself in lol.

I created Amina a few years ago, and her story was so clear to me as soon as I finished her. But I was unwilling to commit to anything new at the time as I was trying to get stories off my plate not adding them. I was, however, willing to entertain the right idea. That idea did not come until now when the ISBI challenge was reintroduced to me. I knew it had to be Amina. Her story was the perfect backdrop for drama to ensue. When Winston came over that night, I knew exactly how the rest of the story would play out, and I am so happy to announce this game did not disappoint. To be clear, I didn’t make anything happen. The mods and silly sims did all that. I just tied it all together with a nice bow in Amina’s voice.

As frustrating as it is to watch sims do dumb stuff and not be able to do anything about it, this challenge is fun and I recommend it. Especially to all my fellow micromanaging storytellers out there. Amina and Winston’s relationship was a ride for me too, because I genuinely did not know how it would end. I was fully prepared to break them up while hoping things would work out at the same time. I was happy when Winston began to shape up. What a fine mate her turned out to be!

Emerald is a wonderful sim, and I can’t wait to get to know her better and see what she gets up to. We’ll be back with her generation in a little while!
