Winston agreed to a quick weekend getaway in the city for our honeymoon. We would arrive on New Year’s Eve, so I wanted it to be extra special. I found this super cute boutique hotel in the fashion district in San Myshuno with a rooftop nightclub, bar, and ginormous pool.

The rooms had great layouts with large bathrooms. Our room was so sexy and black with hot pink accents. I swear they picked that room out just for me. And that huge tub definitely had me and Winston’s names on it.

I still was not comfortable with Emmy being home by herself. I know. I need to get over that. I am trying! I came up with a compromise. She could come with us and stay in her own room. She could even plan her own itinerary if she wanted. My only requirement that she have dinner with us. Unlike when she was a child, thoughts of staying in a huge room by herself excited her this time. I loved her room. It gave me so many ideas for what I could do with my studio. The colors were so fresh and the room so bright. It was definitely more appropriate for someone who didn’t plan to woohoo all night.

The only thing about her coming with us was she couldn’t bring Shiloh, and that distressed her a great deal. It took everything in me not to give her nuclear level side eye. Now she cares about the dog? Girl, bye! We boarded her and went on our merry way. Emmy will be just fine.

Since we were in town, Nay met us at the bar for a little pre-gaming just like old times. Then, later, when it was nearing 11:30, we gathered in our room to watch the NYE show and count down to the new year.

Finally, it was count down time! I thanked the Watcher for allowing us to see another year. I got to start the new year off exactly where I wanted to be in the best position I had ever been. I hugged my daughter and kissed my husband. I hope they feel just as fortunate as I do.

I told my child she didn’t have to go to her room, but she had to get out of ours, heh. It’s time to get our newly wed party on!
