For some reason, our family portrait from our first and only family vacation caught my eye as I headed to bed. We took so many pictures that night, but this was the silly one. My parents were many things, but goofy usually wasn’t one. They did it because I asked them to. They did a good many things because I simply asked. [sigh] Amina and Winston were so determined to give me a good life, make me happy, and set me up for success. Would they still be proud of me? I messed up royally, but I’ve grown a lot, too. I feel like that’s something they would love to see. If I ever get the courage to face them again, I hope to be met with that same unconditional love they showered on me my entire life.
