After cake, Mommy dragged me into the living room in front of the tree where I spied a bigger pile of presents than this morning. I was sooooo glad I let her have this. Excitement charged her like an energizer freezer bunny, and she ran around all day making sure our guests were happy and dragging me from room to room. She needed that way more than I did.
“Present too, Mommy? You’ve already done so much. You didn’t have to get presents too.”
“Hush. You’re still my baby, and it’s Winterfest.” She bent over and picked up the small pink box on top of the stack and handed it to me. “Here.” It took her longer to stand back up; she was getting old. “Open this one first.”
I shook the box, and it sounded like something small and solid loose in the box.
She side eyed me. “Come on, now! What if it was fragile?”
“You’d have told me,” I replied with the same energy. I loved messing with her. It was a key inside the box. I know this lady did not go off and buy me another house!! “What is this??”
“Weeeeell… Since you didn’t plan anything and were completely unprepared, I got you a SimBnB at the beach for two nights. You have to have a honeymoon, baby! And you’re leaving the dogs with me! End of story.”
She got no argument from me. I loved my fur babies, but the second one complicated their care a bit. Ali and I surely wouldn’t have as much time for each other as intended. Was it bad I never considered a honeymoon? Especially when I was with my parents on theirs? I’d been so laser-focused on finding someone I want to have babies with, I hadn’t really considered anything else. I thanked her for having the foresight to do all of that, and we finished opening presents.
After presents and saying goodnight to our guests, we prepared to say goodnight to mommy and the doggies. She gave us the address to the house, which was right across the street from my favorite beach and next door to the cultural center where all the events happened. It was the perfect location for vacationing sims looking to sample everything Sulani had to offer. But the house itself made me smile. With the day being so focused on me and Ali, at times I forgot it was still Winterfest. But the house was a bright, colorful reminder that there was another reason the day was so special and magical. We could have our own Winterfest celebration if we wanted. All I wanted for Winterfest was Ali.
