After the horticulture lesson, we went to the community center to find everything else. Ali showed me all the dyes and pointed out the difference between the soy and bees’ wax. I bought everything on the table except the candles because I did not intend to make constant trips back there. As a matter of fact, I needed to find a reputable website to purchase materials online.

I turned around to tell Ali we could go back to Willow Creek and found Diamond and Jaron staring at me. Well, she was snarling—something always got her goat. Jaron looked like he was still recovering from NYE shenanigans. Apparently Diamond was working at the community center now. I always thought the creator of the goods manned those tables. See? That was yet another reason our business would be strictly online, because who knew how much of a cut the community center took from selling other sims’ stuff. Nope! Not us!

“Hey guys,” I said. “Happy New Year!”

“Hey yourself,” Jaron said, slurring. Maybe he wasn’t done celebrating. “I thought y’all would still be vacationing.”

“No one has time for that,” I said dismissively.

“You know what else you don’t have time for?” Diamond yelled. “YOUR FRIENDS! How long were you going to keep THAT a secret?”

“Diamond, chill! I only took the test this morning!”

Honestly? She wasn’t on my list of friends/family to tell immediately. I was flattered she still valued our friendship and all, but even after we had that talk, things weren’t the same between us. Plus, we were grown now and had our own lives and families to look after. There was no way she should expect us to remain in constant contact as if we were still in high school.

“Congrats! I’m gonna be an auntie!”

“You’re not even related,” Jaron said. “How you gonna be an auntie?”

Ugh. How could she be with someone so petty? They were both messes and totally deserved each other.
