Ali wasn’t lying when he said the Willow Creek maker’s space was much nicer than the community center in Evergreen Harbor. Wowzas! It was the biggest, most glamorous and modern thing in the neighborhood and definitely made a statement. On the first floor there was a cafe, Ali was glad to see, in addition to a food truck and picnic area outside. If I was going to spend my days here, that would come in very handy. I loved that there was an art corner. Painting was usually considered a creative entity, but someone had to make it, and I was glad this space did not leave the artists out. Behind that was a greenhouse for flower arranging. Also on the first floor were the fizzing stations as well as a small area to relax.

The second floor was our second home and contained the recycling machines, fabrication stations, wood working bench, candle making station, and a small area for children right next to it! I knew I’d eventually figure out what to do with my babies, but learning that space existed put a solid plan in my head: I could bring them with me. And if they got tired of it, I could talk to Mommy about grandma duty.

Finally, the third floor was a smaller space for robot creation. If my children ever took an interest in STEM programs, that would be the perfect place for them!

Ali tried to show me the candle maker and how it worked, but it had been a while since he used one and forgot the machine ran off of recycled bits. He took some junk he’d been carrying around in his inventory and fed them to the recycler.

But we still didn’t have everything and needed to make a trip to Evergreen Harbor. He remembered seeing a few things on the table for sale at the community center, but before we went there, he wanted to school me on a few things.

Candles were made from either bees’ wax or soy wax. Unless I planned to get into bee keeping, soy wax would be much easier to acquire. Evergreen Harbor was littered with soybean plants, and he showed one to me so I knew what they looked like for when I needed them.

“It sounds like I should probably grow these at the house for easy access, huh?” I asked.

“Only if you want. That would be easier.”

I guess I’m getting into gardening after all!
