I felt better when I woke up, but Mr. Cute Face was not a happy camper; he was starving! I in no way want to see my child miserable, but his pouty face is most adorable. I got him some yogurt so he could have something quickly while I made a breakfast scramble for myself. I’ve never seen a toddler eat so fast before! On one hand, I’m glad he slept through the night. But on the other hand I hate that he was hungry for so long.
Mommy went home yesterday and came back this morning and took care of Luca for me. She held him and carried on a one-sided conversation with Shiloh. Watching the three of them was a treat. I often wondered if Mommy could have handled more than one child. I think she would have done just fine with a few children.
It was a dreary day, perfect for lounging in our PJs. The mail came, and we received a birthday present for Luca from Billie! How lovely! It’s funny how he doesn’t understand what birthdays and holidays are yet, but being handed a beautifully decorated box still filled him with such joyful anticipation.
I had to show him how to open the box, but he knew the deal. His face when he saw that shiny red car…priceless!!
He looked at me like I was the absolute best person in the world. While I’d love to take all the credit, I had to let him know the gift came from Auntie Billie. Or at least that’s what I think she’ll be. We’re not as close as Mommy and Aunt Nay were, but she is a very good friend. It works. I took that opportunity to get us dressed and out of the house. We went to San Myshuno to thank her for the gift in person.
I expected to find her down and out, still grieving for her mother, but she looked so well! I can only dream of being in such good spirits mere days after losing my mother. I introduced her to Luca and thanked her for the gift. While she and Mommy caught up, I found Dereck and introduced the boys. There’s a huge age difference, but maybe they could still be friends.
Dereck was amenable, and luckily Luca was too. So many toddlers have stranger danger. Mommy said I had it bad. But Luca was up for the challenge, my little champ!
Still, Dereck didn’t quite know what to do with Luca. With no siblings, or friends with younger siblings, he’s never been around toddlers before. I told Luca to show him the car Billie sent. Maybe they could play together. Whether he was just playing along or was actually impressed, Dereck said the car was really cool. I think I’d like to get them together more often.
