I know I said previously I wouldn’t concern myself with ditching the baby weight yet, but it’s definitely time to restart my morning jogs with Shiloh. If I wake up early enough, I can do my run and have breakfast ready before everyone is awake. Well, everyone except Alessia. No one ever knows when she’ll be awake, but at least she can’t go anywhere.
Summer is here and banished the chilly mornings. I got used to them in Brindleton Bay, but nothing beats warm sun beating down on you. Our footsteps in tandem with the birds’ morning song provided a nice soundtrack for my thoughts on the eve of my birthday. I am super grateful for my life and everyone in it. Mommy isn’t here all the time, but she’s here a lot and I cherish every moment I have with her because I know her time is short. I love watching her in grandma mode. She loves my children, and they love her too. It’s such a beautiful sight.
Ali, my sweetheart, is such a great dad and family man. He is exactly the guy I dreamed of marrying. We are a team, raising our children and taking care of the household together. I don’t have to ask him for anything. He just does it. Everything! I wanted this life and was completely prepared to be the primary caretaker. It’s my job. But to have help—unsolicited help—is such a beautiful thing. I think about that a lot when I remember what Mommy told me about how her life with Daddy wasn’t always like this.
My son is amazing. I know I’m biased, but that doesn’t make it any less true, heh. He’s growing by leaps and bounds, getting bigger and smarter every day…and he knows it.
He didn’t take too kindly at first when he learned he was no longer the only child. But he’s accepted it and seems to like the idea now. I catch him in the nursery babbling to Alessia sometimes. He even brings his toys in there to play though I’m not sure if he thinks she’s going to play with him or not. Whether she knows his voice, or babies and toddlers can communicate, she responds to him. I think she’s gonna love her big brother.
