Sooooooo…I invited Ali to join us for our Harvestfest feast! Annnnnd I didn’t tell Mommy I had a plus one. She’s gonna be so mad. But once she sees him, all will be forgiven. I just know it.

Something about seeing my stray doggie friend alone and saying I’d take care of him reminded me of Ali. No, I don’t think he’s a dog. Don’t ask me how the brain works! It’s weird, ok? Anyway, I thought about how much I still don’t know about him. Did he have somewhere to go for the holidays? Does he have family nearby? Are they close? Does he even observe holidays? So many questions and so few answers. I figured if I just flat out invite him, I’d potentially get a few of them answered. He accepted, so that means he didn’t have plans and either his family was not local or they weren’t close. Either way, he doesn’t have to be alone anymore.

I love that he dressed up. Some families have formal holidays, but that is not how the Pope-Crenshaw clan does it. Ooooor…..maybe he wanted to look nice for me! OR maybe he wanted to impress Mommy! I hope she’ll be as cool with Ali as she was with Laurant.

As I suspected, she was not happy about the sneak attack, but I promised her it was nothing sinister. I only had a last-minute whim to help a friend. She gave me heavy side eye, but she knew she was excited to meet him. I saw her eyes light up briefly when she finally turned around and saw his face, but she gave him the stiff armed handshake and professional voice. It’s cool though. He’ll win her over in just a few sentences. Just you wait.
