We got home in just enough time for me to bake a cake for my sweetheart. I think we both do a good job of giving and taking, but I was still super excited to do this for him. Our family is growing, and he’s doing so well at work. I know he is happy. But if I could add just a tiny bit more happiness, well, that would make me happy.

He doesn’t have many close friends, and honestly I don’t think he’d want me making a big deal of this, anyway. So Mommy and I—and Shiloh—made the biggest ruckus we could for our dearest, sweetest Alessandro Murillo.

He’s totally got the dad bod going on, and it kinda makes me laugh. He’s getting to be a doughboy, but I kinda like it. Our lives have gone by so fast since getting married. Fitness hasn’t been a priority for either of us, much to Shiloh’s chagrin. I know she misses our morning jogs. Maybe one day I’ll concern myself with shedding the baby weight. But for now, I’m celebrating my boo and reflecting on life. In a few days, everyone will celebrate me. My friends are dreading their birthdays and lamenting the end of their youth. I’m kind of excited. This new chapter coincides with so many other new chapters in my life that I’m excited to get to. Bring them on!
