Why did no one tell me there is a wrecked ship on the island?? Like, seriously? I’d lived this close to a shipwreck this whole time? I call foul! Throw a yellow flag on Amina Pope! Why did she never bring me here? And a cave!
At first I stood there and admired it, thinking I wouldn’t go in. Who knew what lurked in there. It could be dangerous! But I remembered what Mommy said, and the whole point of this bucket list is to experience life and stop being afraid, so I went in.
I’m so glad I did! It was the coolest thing and nothing like I imagined. When I think about caves, I imagine them being dark and dank with bats and ginormous spider webs. This cave was dark but not scary dark. I didn’t see any bats or spider webs. What I did see what amazing. I could tell immediately how this cave was formed. The walls differed from the rocks forming the cave’s mouth and were lined with grooves. And there were so many channels! These were lava tubes! I followed one pretty far by the stream which flowed in it and saw something glowing on the wall. As I got close, I saw it was a cluster of crystals! They were a beautiful bright pink, a color I’d never seen in a stone before. I bet they were super rare. I wiggled them, trying to loosen them from the wall, and out they came! I’ve got to tell Mommy about this!!
