Good thing the kids are on spring break because all of us lingered in bed way past 8:00. Me and Sophia were a little hungover from our Electro Man shenanigans. Those teenage hormones must be kicking in early because there was no reason for Desiree to go to bed at 8 p.m. and still be asleep at 8 a.m. I went to check on her when I finally arose. She was just getting out of bed.
“Good morning, sweetie. You alright?
“I’m good.”
“I hear you have a birthday tomorrow.”
A big smile grew across her face.
“Do you know what you want to do?” I asked.
“Well…not exactly. But I want to have fun allllll day!”
That gave me a few ideas to pitch to Alessia later.
“I got you. Are you excited??”
She nodded enthusiastically. I wanted to ask what she was most excited about, but knew it was probably something along the lines of spending more time away from home. I’m ready and not ready, tossed between wanting her to live and fun, being her best self. But I also want her where I can see her. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not gonna be the lock her in her room until she’s an adult type dad, but I just really love having that kid around. That and I know she’s gonna be incredibly beautiful, and while I want her to have fun and do all the teenage things, I don’t trust these little boys. Yes, already! I realize haven’t even met them yet, ha!
We had a very lazy day, probably the laziest day to date. Desi spent most of the time in her room, and I didn’t leave the house except to harvest the money tree. I think I even watched a little TV. After a while, though, I think Sophia got a little antsy and suggested we go swimming. I gotta say, it was very cool to change clothes and walk across the street to the lake. I love this neighborhood so much.
After swimming, I began the birthday celebrations early by getting dressed up and going out to eat. We went to that Mt. Komorebian restaurant by Dub’s house. I’d never seen it so crowded before. We actually had to wait to be seated, so I snapped some pictures of my beautiful daughter to capture this moment before she evolves tomorrow.
