3.236 Double team

When I arrived at Chi Chi’s, I found her engrossed in some TV show. Karmine, who I did not expect, was there too, playing a board game. I greeted her and expressed my surprise at seeing her, but that was a mistake. Both of them began an epic battle to explain her presence in the most dramatic way. I knew they were both talkers, but watching them tag-team like that was an experience, to say the least. Needless, I definitely should have had a few more drinks.

It turns out Karmine had moved back home. Why? Her slimy boyfriend left her! Shortly after that, she found out she was expecting again and moved back home when the babies were born. Yes, babies. She had twin boys, Carl, and Emory, and I can’t believe Chi Chi has THREE grandsons. Before I could get in my feelings about all these sorry men within my six degrees, Chi Chi spun off another tale of her own news. She eloped! She is now Mrs. Xochitl “Chi Chi” Ross. That business guy who took her to Sulani that one weekend made the comeback of the century. He started calling her again and convinced her to go back to Sulani with him; that’s where he’s from. He proposed to her, and that changed her entire perspective. She saw that unimportant details had distracted her, and she hadn’t truly seen him. For example, it bothered her he isn’t a pet guy, but in the grand scheme, is that really important? She doesn’t even have a pet right now. And even if she did, would she pass up a man who never gave up on her and constantly displays his seriousness about her? He’s clearly loyal, and kind, smart, and, “a little self-absorbed, but who isn’t, ha ha!” She said yes to him, and they wed on a beach near his family’s property. She’s thrilled with him and can’t believe how her life turned out. After her first husband died, she wanted to remarry and have more children. The kid part of that plan is definitely out of the question now, but at least she has all these grandbabies to love on. Considering them, and her age, her time as a professional athlete is quickly ending as she’s thinking of retiring to help Karmine with the boys.

After all their stories were over, we sat down, and I told her why I had come. She felt for us as she discovered our secrets and was glad we figured out a way around it, but declined my offer. Though I was a little disappointed, I understood. She started her family very early and has already lived a full life. Everything is as it should be, and she wouldn’t change a thing.

“Me and Karmy are already too close in age,” she said. “There’s no way I want to be within sister range!”

I didn’t even think of that.

I sat there, admiring her for a moment. I knew very few sims who lived without regrets and wouldn’t change their lives if given the chance. My mother was one. It’s a beautiful thing. But another thing about life is growth. I thought about how far I’ve come regarding Chi Chi. If someone would have told me years ago, that fine ass girl who popped up at my house one day would become one of my good friends, I would have laughed, said they were crazy, and then probably go in the bathroom and throw up. I went from being completely unglued around her to entrusting her with intimate details of my life. It’s amazing what a little time and maturity can do, and I’m grateful she never let me go.
