3.271 The Logan Report

I spent most of the day in my jammies, playing with Logan, watching him, doing tummy time with him, and sending pics to Alessia. He’s such a happy little dude. So smiley and giggly. Whether he likes me or just thinks I’m funny looking, I love to see that gummy little smile. His high-pitched shrieks of laughter could turn anyone’s frown upside down in an instant.

When Desi got home, she ran upstairs and asked me what she missed. I love how she loves him. And I knew she’d be the perfect big sister. I told her we played peek-a-boo. He doesn’t quite know how to do it himself yet, but he sure loves the reveal. His fine motor skills are ace, and he grabs things with a firm grasp now. I also told her about how he’s great at soothing himself, just like she was at his age.

“How was your day?” I asked.

“Uhhh…”

“We had exams today,” she said.

“Oh, right. How’d you do?”

“Not well.”

Couldn’t say I was disappointed. After the week we had? I knew she was very distracted, and not all the distractions came from inside the house. Hmph.

“I see. Listen, Des. I know you probably think that because you’re not going to university, you don’t need to do well in school, but that’s not true.”

“Why not? You didn’t do well either.”

“I did well enough. You should always do your best. It’s not really about how well you remember the material. High school is about developing life skills and a good work ethic. Your life may be easy now, but it won’t always be. You need to be able to handle whatever life throws at you. Trying harder in school will help you do that.”

“Fiiiiine.”
