Dad arrived and found me walking around the venue, admiring its beauty. I don’t know whether Mama ever worked out the flower situation, but as I suspected, the venue had more than enough. They were everywhere. Flowers on chairs. Flowers on the tables. Flowers on the aisle. There were even flowers on the roof. Where would Mama’s extra flowers even go? She and Sophia took care of choosing the location because I honestly didn’t care where we got married. We could have done it in Mama’s backyard for all I cared. Needless, that was the first time I saw the venue, and it was far beyond anything I ever dreamed.
I didn’t dream about my wedding much, but when I did, I never saw all of Mama’s friends in attendance. It was so weird that she invited them, especially when they didn’t invite her to their kids’ weddings. But she paid for everything, so I couldn’t complain too much. All I knew was they had better give good gifts. The only one I didn’t mind her inviting was Dereck Jang, even though I doubted he remembered me. I was a child the last time we saw each other, I think.
Dad came over and eyed me suspiciously.
“You’re looking surprisingly rested and hydrated.”
“HA! You know I don’t party like that, Dad.”
“I know. I’m just messing with you… So…we’re here… You okay? Nervous?”
“Not at all! I’m excited. I mean, look at this place! It’s like…paradise!”
He looked around, nodding in agreement.
“Your mom definitely outdid herself. She loves you so much and is very proud of you.”
“I know.”
“I’m proud of the man you’ve become, too. With the care you’ve taken to ensure she is the one, I have no doubt you and Sophia will be just fine.”
“Thanks, Dad. I appreciate that.”
