Dub arrived, so I left Dad and Less to greet him. Maia had forgotten something in their rental, so she arrived a few minutes after him. I complimented his outfit and was glad to see he didn’t wear a fancy suit. We didn’t think a dress code or theme was necessary, but since it was a beach wedding, we figured everyone would dress more casually like we did. We were wrong, but some folks got the message. I was about to say something else when I noticed Chi Chi arrived. She was more beautiful than she had ever been, and I got stuck. I didn’t want to be stuck, but I couldn’t move or take my eyes off her.
“Uhhh…Luc? You okay, bro?”
“…What?”
“Wait…did you two used to-“
“NO!”
Finally, I was able to break myself out of her spell.
“You’re about to get married, bro. You can’t look at her like that.”
“I know! It’s not like that. I swear.”
“So what’s it like?”
“I just think she’s fine as hell, and I don’t know how to act around her. I never have. I always feel like such a dork when she’s around! I mean, look at her!”
“She is fine. And she’s coming this way, so you need to figure it out.”
“I’m good! I promise I’m good.”
Maia was right behind her, so I exhaled a little, glad to have someone else to divide my attention.
“Hey there, handsome, and other handsome,” she said. “Oh! And Ms. Gorgeous! Look at us! We should call this Cute Corner, ha ha!”
I smiled and shook my head at her. If I had a fraction of the boldness she had, I would be in trouble and would definitely not be minutes away from marriage. Speaking of, out of the corner of my eye, I saw Dad take his place under the arch, so I excused myself to get ready to for the next chapter of my life.
