“Why the hell would she do that?” Kameron asked.
Nadia had the same question. As irritating as it was to watch, fragments of memories from the past few weeks came together and formed a clear picture of what bothered Melany. Kameron refused to tell her, so she knew whatever it was had to be serious. The validity of Brytani’s claims were still uncertain, but Nadia tried to put herself in Brytani’s shoes. How would she feel if Nathaniel or Noemi–and even Melany–disliked her for whatever reason? It would hurt like crazy, and her heart went out to her.
“She’s a comedian, Kameron.”
He looked askance. “What does that have to do with her putting my child on blast on national television?!”
She turned toward him, staring directly into his eyes. “She’s in pain. It’s how they process things.”
